Hello! This is my first post!

Ok so I got this really great arcade stick off of Ebay for the SNES. It's just like this one here:

Well I have this problem. My plan was to rip out the electronics and replace it with PSX guts so I could use it on my newer games.  BUT THE FRIGGIN BOTTOM IS GLUED ON. Aparently the manufacturer never intended for these to be worked on or repaired or anything. And they don't make SNES-PSX converters. I can get a SNES-USB thing, which would be ok for the PC I guess. Arrrgh. There's a sticker underneath that's mostly worn off, I think it says "Sports Arena Woodworking" in San Diego.  I googled it but I got nothing. If anyone knows if these guys are still around please speak up!

So I have to decide if I feel like pretty much destroying the bottom in order to get inside.

Hey there, and welcome to the LJ group!

That looks pretty sweet! You'll have to be careful taking the bottom away because some of the electronics inside may be fixed to it - probably why it's all glued into place.

Could try perhaps using a hacksaw blade to neatly cut away the bottom so that it can be easily reattached with tape / glue?

Dang, somebody reads much. I posted this like 5 minutes ago, lol.
That's a pretty good point you make, I bet they did put all the electronics down there. I'll take some photos when I get home, I think what I'll have to do is drill a couple of big holes, then cut across with my jigsaw or something. It's really a nice stick otherwise, very big and heavy. Oh and the best part? I got it for $20.

Heh, I spotted the post first, then got the email about it!

Not bad for $20 at all! Defo an idea to maybe cut away a small hole just so that you can check inside before jigsawing on in case there's any stray wires that might get sliced along the way.

When it's finished be sure to post some pics! :D

Oh no worries, I could slice the wires all to hell and it won't be an issue. I'll just solder up an old PS1 controller in it's place.

No wait, the electronics are attached underneath the top. I can tell because the wire coming out curves upwards. When I used to make these things I did it that way too.
